  1. Look I don’t care what team you root for. Seeing a home town kid do something that special is what baseball is all about. Congrats Joe.

  2. Padres: “hey guys, we couldn’t get you a grand slam in a 6th consecutive game vs the rangers… so we got you the first no-h****r in franchise history instead. Hope you enjoy 👉👈😳”

  3. No-hitters are one of the most awesome things in baseball. Congratulations to the Padres and all their fans.

  4. San Diego’s own Joe Musgrove holy shit!!! We are freaking out here haha so sick man, I love baseball

  5. Nothing is jinxier than Bally’s “no hitter through” notice in the bottom of the screen the whole time way to fight through it

  6. Congrats to the Friars on getting their first no-no. For some more fun, here are a few facts I compiled regarding tonight’s feat.

    * This is the first no-hitter in San Diego Padres history. For reference, since the Padres started playing in 1969, there have been 135 no-hitters (including 13 perfect games) thrown, including 10 thrown against the Padres.

    * The last no-hitter thrown against Texas was on April 18, 2007, when they were no-hit by Mark Buehrle of the Chicago White Sox. Only four teams have a longer active streak of avoiding a no-hitter (Yankees, Angels, Nationals/Expos, Athletics).

    * Prior to tonight, the Padres had taken 5 no-hitter attempts into the 9th inning before losing them, with those attempts coming in 1970 (Kirby/Baldschun vs. Mets), 1972 (Steve Arlin vs. Phillies), 1997 (Andy Ashby vs. Braves), 2006 (Chris Young vs. Pirates), & 2011 (Harang/Spence/Qualls/Adams/Gregerson vs. Dodgers).

    * With the Padres having thrown a no-hitter, the team with the longest active streak without a no-hitter are the Cleveland Indians, whose last no-hitter was Len Barker’s perfect game against the Blue Jays on May 15, 1981. The longest active no-hitter drought in the NL now belongs to the Milwaukee Brewers, whose sole no-hitter was thrown by Juan Nieves against the Orioles on April 15, 1987.

    * This is the first no-hitter ever thrown on April 9. By date, only 4 no-hitters have been thrown on earlier dates. One on April 4 (2001, Hideo Nomo (BOS) vs. BAL), two on April 7 (1979, Ken Forsch (HOU) vs. ATL / 1984, Jack Morris (DET) vs. CWS), & one on April 8 (1994, Kent Mercker (ATL) vs. LAD).

    * The only baserunner in the game for Texas, who was hit by a pitch in the 4th inning. While certainly rare, this is not the first time there has been a no-hitter where the only baserunner was hit by a pitch. The last time it occurred was when Kevin Brown of the Florida Marlins no-hit the Giants on June 10, 1997. In that game, the sole baserunner was Marvin Benard, who was hit by a pitch with 2 outs in the 8th inning.

  7. At home standing for the first inning like I always do, I never had a chance to sit down. My girlfriend came home from work and I couldn’t explain why I was sweaty, half naked and hiding in the closet between innings. Worked out 💪

Thank you SO MUCH Joe Musgrove
